Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is slated to hit the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC on August 23, 2016. Developed by Eidos Montral and Nixxes Software, the Square Enix-published game will be the sequel to 2011’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution. For PC gamers, this highly anticipated action role-playing stealth title will begin pre-loading on Steam starting Friday, August 19. Steam has also listed the hardware requirements for the game, getting customers ready for the upcoming monster hit arriving later this month.
According to the post, the minimum requirements consist of an Intel Core i3-2100 processor or an AMD equivalent, a Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 (2GB) or AMD Radeon HD 7870 (2GB) graphics card, 8GB of system memory, and 45GB of storage space. A 64-bit operating system is required spanning from Windows 7 SP1 and up.
As for the recommended specs, PC gamers will need the Intel Core i7-3770K or AMD FX 8350 Wraith processor, the GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon RX 480 graphics card supporting a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, 16GB of system memory, and 55GB of storage space. The 64-bit version of Windows 10 is the preferred operating system.
Note the recommended 16GB of memory. This is beginning to become the norm, as even the just-released No Man’s Sky has a minimum requirement of 8GB as well as the new Doom from Bethesda. Quantum Break has a recommended memory spec of 16GB too, indicating that the days of relying simply of 4GB are long gone. Surprisingly, the beautiful Witcher 3: Wild Hunt only needs 6GB of system memory. However, as Digital Trends previously reported, 8GB seems to be the sweet spot for now although that appears to be changing soon.
As for console owners, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is now pre-loading on the Xbox One and will begin pre-loading on the PlayStation 4 starting Sunday, August 21, at midnight. Sony customers who pre-order the $60 Digital Standard Edition through the PlayStation Store will receive an extra in-game mission, the Covert Agent Pack, a digital novella, a digital comic, a digital artbook, a special PS4 theme, and a soundtrack sampler. The bundle will officially launch on August 23.
For PC gamers, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will support eye-tracking features powered by the Tobii EyeX and the SteelSeries Sentry. This will allow players to aim with a simple gaze, to move the game’s camera by looking towards the edge of the screen, to easily move about within the game with a simple gaze, interact with NPCs, and more. The user interface will only be displayed when needed, providing a fuller view of the virtual environment. The $139 game/controller bundle can be pre-ordered here.
Review copies are already reportedly in circulation, with the embargo lifting six days from now. The game will take place two years after Human Revolution and an event called the “Aug Incident,” which saw mechanically augmented humans lose control and become highly violent. Naturally, the world now fears and hates individuals with augmentations. Thus, protagonist Adam Jensen will return as part of an Interpol-funded task force created to hunt down and capture augmented terrorists.
